The history  of assault ladders is long and varied. Since ancient times, town walls, castles and fortifications have been taken by escalade (attackers climbing ladders to get over the walls). There have been many ladders made for toy soldier besieging armies, but this is the first wheeled version we've encountered. Leonardo Da Vinci devised a bigger model than this, but it's the same theory: wheel it up against a wall and send your troops up to scale it. Measures 5 inches long, 2.5 wide and 3.5 high. (54mm climbing figure shown for scale)
