42-piece hard plastic model kit cast in 4 colors (blue, yellow, red and gray) , with 2 metal springs for chest rockets. Set is mint in box, still on the sprues, and the back of the box features detailed step-by-step assembly instructions.
This range of toys was produced by Atlantic as a licensed product from Toei Animation-Dynamic Production, copyright 1978. The sets were based on the Japanese "UFO Robot Grendizer" super robot TV anime and manga created by manga artist Go Nagai. The series was broadcast on Japanese television from October 5, 1975, to February 27, 1977, and lasted 74 episodes. The robot's first appearance in the United States was as a part of the Shogun Warriors line of super robot toys imported in the late 1970s by Mattel, then in Jim Terry's Force Five series, both under the title Grandizer. It was especially popular in continental Europe and in the province of Quebec where it was retitled "Goldorak." In Italy the series was retitled "Goldrake". Each full-color box features artwork from the series.
These classic figures are in mint condition, packed in boxes which have never been opened. Atlantic went out of business in 1984, so their beautifully sculpted sets are hard to come by.
