The Barbarians defend their sacred Oak tree!
The Romans rarely made a point of repressing local religious customs, but occasionally, as in their conquest of Britain, they destroyed what they didn't understand. In one infamous example, Gaius Suetonius Paulinus, the Roman Governor of Britain, attacked the Isle of Anglesey. There he destroyed the shrine and burned the Druid's sacred groves of trees. This was one of the main incitements to a massive revolt by the Britons, led by Queen Boudicca, against the Romans.
We put together this playset in response to numerous collectors' requests for a painted Roman set for their kids. Use it to recreate battles between the Romans and their opponents from Britain, Gaul, Germany and other borders of the Empire. You can see the full playset at the top of the photograph and examples of some of the highly detailed figures included in the set in close-up below. If this proves popular one can purchase additional figures and accessories to increase the fun.
