Toy Soldiers - set MX240

As far as I can tell, this 31 figure set is the second-largest pose selection Marx ever offered. It is surpassed only by the 34 pose set of the WWII Battleground GI's. Each football set contains 27 players, a coach and 4 officials. The vast pose selection offers complete offensive and defensive teams. You have a center and 4 linemen, with a quarterback bent over to receive the ball. Another quarterback pose is reaching back to throw the ball, and yet a third shows either the quarterback or another player running with the ball. 16 additional poses show players in action, running, blocking, reaching for passes, and so on. There's a field goal team as well, with one player holding the ball while another is poised to kick it. A third pose in this team shows the kicker in action, the ball against his toe as it flies away downfield. The head coach is a character figure of the legendary Giants leader, Allie Sherman, in an overcoat with his hand pointing away from him. Finally, there are 4 different referees, one with hands raised, another with a penalty flag, a third with a stopwatch and the 4th grabbing his leg to show a penalty. Please note: While some of the poses appear to be the same, there are several poses which look alike but the player's numbers on their jerseys are different. Altogether one of the greatest of Marx's efforts. These recasts were made in the 1990s, and have never been molded since the original production run. (Pose colors vary, but we try to give you as close to a matched color set as possible). All figures are in mint condition. The set is composed of the 31 figures shown in the photograph.)
