Saladin figure, shown at top left, is painted from a historically accurate color painting, as are the other warriors.
The great military leader and noble warrior, Saladin, deserved to have a set of his own, and here it is. Saladin (shown on the top row, second from the left, with sword) was one of the great nationalist leaders of the Middle Ages. He united many of the disparate tribes of Egypt and the Middle East and fought successful wars against the Crusader Kingdoms of the Holy Land. But he was a man of peace as well as a warrior. Upon conquering Jerusalem, following the extermination of the Crusader Army at Hattin, he spared the inhabitants from fire and sword and allowed those who chose to remain a degree of religious freedom and the ability to trade that was unknown under the Christians who ruled there before him.
