Original Timpo - Mounted French Foreign Legion Officer - Dealer Stock
1 swap-type unpainted plastic figure - horse, saddle, reins and base may vary
IMPORTANT! Although originally created to be swappable, we don't recommend it, as the plastic can sometimes shear off. Items are sold in as-is condition and we cannot replace any damaged pieces. We include an instruction sheet in case you want to attempt to swap parts. We include the sword which Timpo placed in the hands of the figure when it was originally produced, but the horse, base, saddle and reins may vary.
This retired figure was produced by Timpo in England in the late 1970s. It was made in unpainted plastic, but appears to be painted as it was cast using a method (now lost) in which different colors of plastic were fused together by the manufacturer to give the model the appearance of being painted. This is original store stock, in new, mint, undamaged condition.
Timpo's Arabs and Foreign Legion range go best with Britain's Deetail, but are also well-suited to Timpo solid-cast figures, Reamsa, Jecsan, Oliver and Cherilea. Most figures are ring-handed, so you can freely interchange weapons.
Following in the footsteps of Britain's 'Swoppet' line, Timpo created a range of 'Swap-type' figures in the 1970s which is among the most popular lines we sell. Using a secret method (now lost forever) in which various colored plastics were fused together into one figure, Timpo created the first fully colored soldiers without the use of paint. This unique process avoided the chipping, fading and other signs of aging that painted plastic figures had experienced.
