Our Collection of Painted Metal 54mm (1/32nd - about 2 1/4 inches high)
Made in 1973, this was the first of the "New Metal" figure sets Britain's produced after a 7 year hiatus from manufacturing. 1966 had seen the end of the era of lead soldier production, following an international ban on lead toys for children. This set, and all future Britains metals, were made out of alloys which did not contain any lead. The models in this initial production run were painted metal, but came with plastic rifles and removable plastic bearskin helmets. This makes them a unique item for the collector. Figures are sold without the box. Set includes a sergeant and 5 privates. The largest image we show is of the catalog page from the 1973 catalog, announcing the new line.
