Commander of British Forces in The Crimean War. A distinguished staff officer and many times decorated for bravery on the battlefield in the Napoleonic Wars, Raglan should never have been given command of an army. But he was senior and thus to him fell the plum job of commander of the British expeditionary forces in the Crimean War. Despite a lifetime of military experience, he was not the right man for the job, and was unable to handle the logistics of the campaign, was of little use on the battlefield and his inability to perceive the rivalry between Lords Cardigan and Lucan led to the disastrous Charge of the Light Brigade. His failure to grasp either battlefield tactics or strategy was one of the chief reasons why the Crimean War was such a botched affair. Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.
