The set includes 2 large Lithobolos (stone-throwers), 6 models (2 officers and 4 crewmen), plus 4 baskets of rounded stone ammunition.
The torsion-mechanism is a technical improvement over the Oxybeles bolt-shooter in our Ancient Persian range (60 PSN 11 Y). It enables the creation of much bigger and more powerful engines than the composite-bow mechanism. Our Greek Lithobolos is thus much larger than the Persian Oxybeles.
The Lithobolos comes in many sizes but there are two mayor categories, one for siege and the other for field support. In our case, a set represents a single detachment of soldiers in a particular army and thus the craftsmen who create these war engines in the field would have simply produced replicas to meet their numbers.
