Painted Plastic

This set contains 5 mounted Persian heavy cavalrymen, painted in authentic armor and weaponry. Basic Paint Job: these models have only the details painted on: flesh, facings and/or decorations, eyes, weapons, belting, shoes, hair and, where applicable, other lesser elements. We leave the basic color of the plastic untouched to represent the uniform color. In an era when most countries could not afford to raise extensive mounted forces, Persia's vast resources and plentiful pasturage meant that they could field significant numbers of heavy and light cavalry regiments. Like the armored knights of medieval Europe, the heavy cavalry, wearing the best-quality armor, and riding armored horses, could be committed to shock duties on the battlefield. Few could stand against their charge, but they could also stand off at a distance and loose volleys of arrows at infantry units which could never hope to pursue them. These troops carried lances, bows and axes. The troops are perfect scale to Expeditionary Force's Greeks, as well as Toy Soldiers of San Diego's and Fencibles' ancient-era figures. Set includes one officer and 4 armored cavalrymen which we have assembled and painted.
