Considered the finest cavalry in Greece at the time of Philip and Alexander, the Thessalians accompanied Macedonian armies into battle through the first part of the Asian expedition and, later, served the Macedonian throne until its overthrow by Rome. Armed with a variety of weapons, including javelins, the14-foot xyston lance and a shorter fighting spear, they also carried a sword for close-in fighting.
These magnificent figures set a new standard for excellence in the toy soldier marketplace! Each figure is composed of a body trunk with legs, onto which you glue a head and 2 arms, then add other weapons which slide into the model's hands. Cavalry horses come in 3 colors (the photo here only shows one as it is a prototype) and must be glued to their bases. Although it will take you about 2 minutes per figure to assemble these warriors, the resulting model will blow you away with its detail, dimensionality and fluidity of motion. Use "Gorilla" Super Glue or any cyanoacrylic glue. Expeditionary Force's superbly sculpted Greek range is in perfect scale to Toy Soldiers of San Diego's, Conte's and Fencibles' ancient-era figures
