Our Collection of Painted Metal 54mm (1/32nd - about 2 1/4 inches high)
3 lancers in white sun helmets ride trotting horses. One figure has a chip on its leg. The horse's legs show a little bending, but they stand up fine.

The 17th Lancers (Duke of Cambridge's Own) bore the nickname  "The Death or Glory Boys" since 1759. They gained notoriety for their iconic skull and crossbones emblem (bearing the motto "Or Glory"), the regiment gained fame during the Crimea War for their role as part of the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854 during the Crimean War, In 1879 they were sent to South Africa as reinforcements after early British setbacks in the Zulu War. Their most famous action took place in the Battle of Ulundi on July 4, 1879. During the Battle, the British formed a massive infantry square to withstand Zulu attacks. Once the Zulus began to waver, the 17th Lancers charged into the Zulu ranks, shattering their cohesion and relentlessly pursuing them over two miles. This charge attack broke the Zulu army's strength, preventing them from mounting any further organized field campaigns.
